La llorona_cl (Audio-visual watercolors 5/5)

April, Chile, 2006

La Llorona_cl (Audio-visual watercolors 5/5) explores the narrative language of dance as a central axis of the proposal and concentrates in the folkloric dances of the Chilean popular culture, most of which have disappeared.

The author tries in this project to investigate the roots of dance in a country, to speak about the threatening passage of time, the struggle of a woman and her impotence. She is a woman who tries to reafirm herself by dancing in a completely adverse context (the rocks that prevent her from dancing, the overwhelming police presence, the pain of death).

This series of five videos wants to transmit certain feelings through the deconstruction of some elements of Chilean dance. In other words, dance should be understood like an excuse to talk about a concrete subject or to underline certain impressions.
